It seems we, italians, will change our constitution, we are tryng to change it from: someone say 30 years…someone 70 years (Whaaat!? O_O Impossible!). What kind of constitution is the new one? Better? Worse? Who knows!
While i’m writing this, the debate is open between: who approves the reform and who rejects her. One side says, that this reform: will increase efficiency of our Parliament; will reduce the number of politicians; will save money; gives more power to the people.
The other side substains, that this reform added to the new electoral law (Italicum) will increase the power of a prime minister, a leader of one party, a risk for the democracy. Plus, this reform will not increase Parliament’s efficiency, but complicates the legislative procedure and will save much less money. Worth it?
Now, none of these two parts told me if we vote yes or not, what kind of men or women will have in our Parliament? They will remember the value of our constituion? They will always stand in front of their responsability? They will always remember the reason of why they decide to serve the country (if there is a reason)? They will always do the interests of the collective, in respect of: skin colour, political orientation, sexual orientation, religious faith? And last, but not least: they will always remember to treate their people as equals?
