Matzka came to Earth as an observer and arrived in Florence in 1476.
With its abilities, it was able to enter the city unnoticed by the local authorities. Once landed, Matzka started to walk around the place where Renaissance was born. It was astonished by so much beauty surrounding him. Passing through the city alleys and squares, it gazed at several churches – like the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower – making it feel that humanity had an extraordinarily high opinion and respect for their god. Matska wondered if their god felt the same feelings for them or if they were using their faith just as a disguise to hide or justify their crimes and defects.
While lost in the middle of his thoughts, it entered the workshop of a young artist. He saw a man leaning on top of a dead body, touching and opening it.
“What are you doing?” said Matzka, utterly horrified.
The man didn’t pay attention to the question as he was so focused on his task. Matska understood that the man didn’t even realise that someone else was with him in the workshop. It moved closer until the other person suddenly realised.
“Whoa! You have scared me Messer!” said the man, startled by the presence of a stranger.
“My apologies,” Matzka replied. “I was wondering what you were doing to this man.”
“I’m studying how he looks on the inside.”
“Why?” responded Matzka, confused.
“It is something I cannot do on myself, so I found a different solution.”
“I mean, why are you doing this?”
“I want to know. Our body, like our soul, is full of mysteries. I want to discover some of these for as long as I can live,” the man replied.
Matzka appeared nervous at his reply. It couldn’t understand why it was needed and why he picked this person for his research.
Matzka reflected and said, “By doing this, you might offend the memory of another man. Doesn’t it bother you the idea to disturb his eternal rest?”
The man smiled on hearing those words. He looked upon his visitor and replied, “Bother me? Why? This man was a murderer. The things he had done… Trust me, you would not want to hear them.
“Why then should we stop,” he continued “in front of an opportunity to learn? What this man can teach me now is more valuable than what he did during his life. We could learn how our body works, using this knowledge to cure diseases.
“We should discuss our possibilities and not only about our limits,” he concluded.
Matzka halted. It was amazed by the confidence and the pure sense of interest of that man. Matzka was deeply curious to know him better.
“What is your name, Messer?” asked Matzka.
“Leonardo Da Vinci. What is yours?”
“Matteo Nessuno,” Matzka answered swiftly, trying to hide its origins.
Leonardo then looked better at that strange visitor. This answer made him wonder. With its pale look and deep black eyes, quick to follow all his movements, Leonardo was sure that the stranger was not a local.
The artist then asked, “Where are you from?”
“You would not believe me if I told you.”
“Try me,” replied Leonardo.
The alien then pointed his finger up to the sky, looking at Leonardo with an enigmatic smile.
Leonardo appeared confused at first, but then he said, “I see. So, you must know many more things than I could ever imagine.”
The alien laughed and told him, “Try to reach for the sky Messer Da Vinci, and one day you will be closer to me.”
Matzka then walked out from the workshop, disappearing into the crowd of Florence.
